What does Convention Season Mean To/For You?

Summer (by its traditional meaning of “Those three months I don’t have to be in school”) Is almost here, for some of us (those in University or College) it is already here. Which means it is now time to get our motherflippin’ shit together so we can head out to our favorite Nerd-ventions.

That being said, anyone with planning skills like mine knows these conventions happen every year and yet STILL manages to always leave things to the last minute. Not only does this mean I am constantly rushing to finish costumes and other gear but it means I don’t really leave my apartment for the few days leading up to my next convention.

Subsequently getting dressed after waking up is seen as a waste of time. Therefor I am in my underpants whenever I can manage it. Unfortunately this causes 3 things to occur: 1. I have not changed my underpants in… 3 days(?) and probably won’t again tomorrow unless I (a) Need to go out for supplies or (b) Company comes over and I rush to shower and get dressed. 2. I forget to eat until I feel sick and 3. My skin and 3-day-old underpants are now stained with blood, paint, and various dyes I may be working with while finishing my costumes.

This weekend I found out that my girlfriend hadn’t ever seen the original three Evil Dead films. (Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness) So we watched all of them in one day. Needless to say that by the end of Army of Darkness she was completely confused as to how Army of Darkness could have come from Evil Dead; so I gave her the Evil Dead: the Musical soundtrack…

Now it is stuck in my head and I have been compulsively listening to it and singing along to it since this weekend.

Magazines…

Somedays I look at myself and think… “Damn… I could totally be in magazines…”

“Maybe if I try to look sexy…”

“What is my eyebrow doing?..”

“Worse!”

“Oh God! Not better! Maybe just try and look normal…”

“Relax! Act natural!”

“Almost…”

“Nailed it.”

Caffeine

It’s 2 a.m. and I drank sooo much caffeine today. I can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
